Event Description

Bronx Summer Fest on the Boulevard is an annual event with the Department of Transportation to shut down a block on a city street and host activities for the community. Our Summer Fest is hosted over two consecutive Saturdays, August 4th and August 11th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

What we'll be doing

Volunteers will assist us in setting up tables, chairs, and activities and also assist in break down. The volunteers will also help with running the activity tables. For example we will have games, face painting, arts and crafts, and many other activities.

What you should know

With the help of volunteers from One Brick, we will be able to host this exciting event for the benefit of the community; families will enjoy a car-free street, learn new things, and just have fun! Our event cannot operate without the invaluable assistance from volunteers.  Volunteers should wear comfortable, respectful clothing and enjoy playing with children.

Where to meet

They would meet us at 1330 Intervale Avenue around 10:30am for the first shift, and 1:30pm for the second shift. There is some street parking but we do recommend using the subway. We are off the Freeman Street stop on the 2 and 5 train.

Organization: Women's Housing and Economic Development Corp.

WHEDCo works with families in the Bronx who struggle with the multiple challenges presented by poverty, and who, like all of us, aspire to a healthy, financially stable future. WHEDCo offers interconnected, innovative, and high quality solutions – including the building of healthy, affordable homes – creating more beautiful, more equitable, and more economically vibrant places to live and raise a family.

Transit: 2 or 5 train to Freeman Street, then walk left on Freeman St and right on Intervale Ave
